Ori and the Blind Forest is also amazingly beautiful and an excellent story, but I'm not listing it below as it's around $10 even on sale. Sunless Sea is also great at storytelling but it's all written, not narrated. Since you liked games of this style (including Trine), you should also check out Song of the Deep. It's a 3D/isometric, narrated platformer similar to Bastion, but the art style is very impressive and the choose-your-own-adventure style of storytelling is nothing short of amazing. /u/Angry_Canadian_Sorry, check out Stories: Path of Destinies./u/AleanderGG, you mentioned being broke: here's an opportunity to get more than one game.

  • /u/Aboud131, you might be interested in a few of these, such as Bastion, Brutal Legend, Headlander, Oddworld: New & Tasty, Rochard, Stories: Path of Destinies, and Warp.
  • Everything here is under $6, and some are under $1. $30 for this much entertainment (I have about hundred hours just because I divide my time up between a bunch of games) is a steal in my opinion. With PUBG, I look through the change logs and think "wow that was exactly what I wanted" or "that sounds like an awesome feature, can't wait!" which is seriously refreshing. When H1Z1 updated, it felt like either nothing changed or the changes were made hastily and weren't in the player's best interests.

It's just a well designed game in which the devs address and fix problems quickly, as well as attempt to add new features every month (new weapons, new vehicles, they just added new weather types like sunset and clear skies to the current map, and they're working on brand new maps) to keep it from getting stale. I got my friends on board so I'm able to play duos or squads whenever I'm in the mood which is a great time, but solos are definitely entertaining as well, especially when you get down to the final few and your heart starts pumping. I haven't had as much fun in a game in a long time, and can't recommend it enough. Honestly I'm always hesitant to jump on board with the early access games, pretty much had only bought H1Z1 before PUBG and was getting pretty frustrated by it constantly, but it looked promising so I got it the month it released. If there is a great deal you want to share with others on a popular title, do so in these daily threads or the hidden gems thread. Please do not submit individual games as posts during the Steam sale, they will be automatically removed.
